  1. Front squat: 95, 115, 125
WOD: 16 minutes with 65# hang cleans. Yeah, that's right. SIXTEEN minutes. Everyone else was calling "time" when I was only halfway done. Those cleans were hard, but I think my last single rep max is 75# so I'm looking on the bright side since I did the whole workout with #65. Really wanted to take weight off because I missed several times but I knew it was only in my head.

ps-this amorphous chump in the diagram doesn't look like he's working very hard, but it does make me want to bring a protractor to our next back squat workout.

  2. Front Squat: 145

    WOD: 9:46 (85# clean , 20" box steps)

Still staying off grains. But I've been compensating mostly with meat and dairy. I need to try to eat more of the vegetables. I bought a yam and an acorn squash last night. I'll see if I can figure out what in the world they are used for later today.

  3. Front Squat: 195#
    WOD: 10:23(ish) Rx'd w/ 24" box

I have thought long and hard about the diet stuff. I am going to give it an honest try, but with my own twist.

Let me know what you think of this.

    80% Paleo 20% Junk Food.

Those numbers are not set in stone, but I like the ratio. I still have to gag down my raw broccoli but I still get to drown my self in cookies and cream ice cream at the end of the day and end my night in a sugar coma.

  4. Here's the thing...you need glucose/insulin to store fat (bad). Such glucose comes from carbohydrates, right? So if you are eating the added fat from a Paleo diet without the carbs, no problem. If you are eating the higher fat content of a Paleo diet and still eating carbs, big problem. Can I talk you into 90-10?

  5. Come on Jer. If I'm suffering through this ...er, I mean...If I can do this, you got to do it too. It's only 27 more days. Maybe I should bring in doughnuts to the 6am class on Dec 1st to reward those who give it a shot (I'm sure the coaches won't mind).

  6. Everything I have read on Paleo says you can do it only 80% of the time?

  7. I think the 80-20 friends on where you are coming from in the first place. Eating really crappy? Then 80-20 might be a big difference. Working out and eating just okay but want more results? 80-20 may not be enough. And I bet every single person's notion of what 80-20 looks like is surprisingly different . A food dairy would really tell the truth in this instance. Ultimately I think this lifestyle requires total commitment up front. Everyone is going to "cheat" but if you go into it thinking you're just going to do 80%, how easy is it to slip to 70%,60%, or less?
